Dance
The INTERNATIONAL MUSIC CAMP School of Dance offers Two Dance Streams: Ballet/Modern and Jazz/Tap/Theatre Dance. These Streams are taught through Two Dance Programs: Dance Experience (3 hours of classes and 3 hours of rehearsals daily) and Dance Intensive (a two-week program for advanced students with 3 hours of classes and 5 hours of rehearsals daily). Pointe is also included for students already working on pointe. Students will register for one of the Streams, and will have the opportunity to "try" classes in the other Stream one day per week. This exciting program offers students an opportunity to study with professional instructors for either one or two weeks. For students ages 12 through 19 with some ballet experience.
NEW FOR 2012! IMC School of Dance will be hosting a Guest Artist in Residence for the entire 2 weeks. Minneapolis-based choreographer Vanessa Voskuil will be researching a new work, Encounters while at IMC. She will present a daily master class for all dance campers, and will also work in small classes with selected Intensive-level campers. Participants will have an opportunity to explore sensor technology as a method to initiate music/sound through movement. Sounds and music for the performance will be recorded and generated on-site.
