Piano
The Piano program includes daily classes in piano technique, piano literature, keyboard harmony, ensemble performance, music theory and master classes. Demonstration classes are also available in jazz piano and organ. Classes are divided into elementary, intermediate, and advanced sections. Fees include one set of two half-hour private piano lessons. Students are encouraged to register for two or three additional lessons. The program is open to students aged 11 through adult with at least two years of piano experience.
Another opportunity for advanced high school pianists, will be to collaborate with vocalists during Session 4. The Collaborative Voice and Piano program will select a few students in the choir and piano programs to work together on repertoire for piano and voice. They will be coached by IMC artist-teaching faculty in voice and piano for one hour each day. These sessions are designed to teach the young musicians the intricacies of working together, and allow them opportunities to get immediate feedback and advice. Collaborative students perform on the Friday afternoon recital at the end of the Session.
