Finale 2012 Music Notation Software (June 16-21, 2013)

Learn how to create music notation projects, arrangements and teaching materials in this practical Finale hands-on workshop for instrumental, choral and classroom music teachers.
Topics include score set-up, note entry methods (with or without a MIDI keyboard), entering markings, lyrics, easy transpose, time-saving shortcuts, page layout, printing out parts, scanning, creating exercise sheets, using Finale's new worksheets and flash cards, general music classroom tools, saving audio files (to email or burn to CD) and creating SmartMusic practice/assessment files.
"Hands-on" sequential step-by-step instruction (Mac computers and MIDI keyboards provided).
Basic computer skills required. Bring a project in your area of interest/teaching to work on.
TWO FINALE SESSIONS OFFERED: Two Finale sessions will take place back-to-back. The Level 1 Basic Finale course will be Sunday evening through Wednesday morning, and the Level 2 Intermediate Finale course will begin Wednesday afternoon through Friday evening. Participants may take one or the other, or both. See below for more details. Graduate credit is available.

FINALE Level 1

Intro to Finale 2012 Music Notation Software (June 16-19,2013)
Learn how to create music notation projects, arrangements and teaching materials in this practical Finale 2012 workshop for instrumental, choral and classroom music teachers. Participants will receive "hands-on" sequential step-by-step instruction in a lab setting (Mac computers and MIDI keyboards provided).
• Topics include: Navigating the software, score set-up, note entry (with or without a MIDI keyboard), entering expressions, articulations and lyrics, page layout, printing out instrumental parts, easy transpose, scanning, creating exercise sheets and flash cards, exploring Finale's new ready-made worksheets, general music classroom tools, exporting to audio (to email or burn to a CD) and using Finale to create your own SmartMusic practice/assessment files.
• Basic computer skills required. Bring a project in your area of interest/teaching to work on.
• Required text for the workshop: ‘Building Successful Finale ‘Chops' (Second Edition for Finale 2012) by Mavis Kallestad. FINALE Level 2

Intermediate Finale 2012 Music Notation Software (June 19-21, 2013)
Using Finale 2012's streamlined, intuitive interface, learn new features, tips and shortcuts that will help you work more efficiently and increase your productivity. Participants will receive "hands-on" sequential step-by-step instruction in a lab setting (Mac computers and MIDI keyboards provided).
• Topics include: Review of Simple and Hyperscribe note entry (using a MIDI keyboard), entering layers, score and linked parts layout tips, time-saving plug-in and metatool short-cuts, percussion notation, Repitch Tool, scanning, creating lead sheets with chords, staff styles for different notation looks, creating custom worksheets, recording/importing an audio track, importing/exporting graphics, importing MIDI files, and using Finale to create your own SmartMusic practice/assessment files.
• Basic knowledge of Finale or PrintMusic software is required. Bring a project in your area of interest/teaching to work on.
