What to Bring

Jr. High & High School Choir

The Choir program during Session 4 includes many opportunities for singers. In addition to daily rehearsals in either the Treble Choir or Mixed Choir, students will participate in sectionals, theory, vocal technique classes, vocal ensembles and optional private lessons, diction and foreign language classes. Students may also be selected to participate in a Chamber Choir. Students participating in the Choir session may also choose to be part of an exciting A cappella Pop Choir. Several groups will be formed based on age, and will be coached by artists-in-residence InPulse. Students will learn how to arrange popular music, about popular performance techniques, about a cappella singing and healthy vocal technique. A cappella Pop Choir is optional, and open to any student registered for Choir. A Men's Choir and other special ensembles make this a very exciting session.

Another opportunity for advanced high school vocalists, will be to collaborate with pianists during Session 4. The Collaborative Voice and Piano program will select a few students in the choir and piano programs to work together on repertoire for piano and voice. They will be coached by IMC artist-teaching faculty in voice and piano for one hour each day. These sessions are designed to teach the young musicians the intricacies of working together, and allow them opportunities to get immediate feedback and advice. Collaborative students perform on the Friday afternoon recital at the end of the Session.
