2012 Fiddlers Weekend
WORKSHOPS: June 7-8, 2012

International Music Camp presents the seventeenth annual FIDDLE, GUITAR, and 5-STRING BANJO WORKSHOPS June 7 and 8, 2012. The Fiddle Workshop will offer instruction in Beginning Fiddle, Intermediate Fiddle, Canadian Old-Time Fiddle & Bluegrass Fiddle styles. The Guitar Workshop will focus on flat-picking styles, and the 5-String Banjo Workshop will focus on finger-picking styles. Both are used in folk and bluegrass music and participants will learn new techniques to accompany oldtime fiddling. The workshops will begin each day at 9:00 a.m. CDT and will conclude at 4:00 p.m. BACK FOR 2012!! Break-out sessions with topics such as mandolin, bluegrass, song-writing, contest fiddling, Metis fiddling and more!
WHO MAY ENROLL: Beginning through advanced players, all ages.

2011 FEES: Full Workshop Package: $160 USD Includes tuition, meals, and lodging for Thursday and Friday ($145 USD early bird registration if registered by June 1, 2011).*
Workshop participants staying on to compete in the Fiddle Contest will be exempt from paying the Fiddle Contest entry fee.
*Cancellations by June 1, 2011 will be refunded all but $25. No refunds after June 1.
FAMILY RATE: $125.00 per family member for three or more participants living under the same roof.
LOCATION: International Music Camp Burdick Center for the Performing Arts, at the International Peace Garden.

2011 Concert The Friday Night Spectacular features one of the most renowned guitarists in North America, MIKE DOWLING, in a must-see concert! Mike's performance will be followed by the TURTLE MOUNTAIN METIS SQUARE DANCERS in an exciting show by local artists. Concert admission ($12 USD) required if not registered as a Fiddle Workshop/Contest participant. Gate admission to the International Peace Garden is additional. No Passports will be required.

CONTEST: June 9, 2012

Now in its 37th year, the INTERNATIONAL OLD-TIME FIDDLERS CONTEST draws fiddlers from both sides of the border to compete in categories ranging from small fry to seniors. Some of the best fiddlers around will compete for cash prizes and trophies, plus the title of overall champion. Whether you come as a fiddler on stage or listener in the audience, you are sure to enjoy this weekend of great old-time music. Contest events will be held in the Burdick Center for the Arts at the International Peace Garden, located on the border between the United States and Canada 45 miles north of the geographical center of North America. The International Peace Garden is located 15 miles north of Dunseith, North Dakota, on U.S. Highway 281, or 15 miles south of Boissevain, Manitoba on Manitoba Highway 10. Contest Admission: $12.00 USD per day.
ENTRY FEE for Contestants: $10 USD.
Registration for the 2012 Contest is open on Friday evening (5:30 to 7 p.m.) AND on Saturday morning (7:30 to 8:30 a.m.). The General Meeting begins promptly at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, with the First Round starting immediately after.
Contestants will be selected to perform at the North Dakota State Fair.
