Special Food Need Protocol
Campers who have food allergies that require meal adjustments such as a wheat or milk allergy should call or e-mail the IMC office when registering for camp.
The IMC office will e-mail or send by mail the tentative menu for the upcoming summer season.
Approximately 2 weeks before the camper's session is to begin, the parent should call the IMC office to discuss the needs of the camper with the Food Service Supervisor or her/his designee.
Parents should either have a meal-by-meal adjusted IMC menu plan or bring the camper's own food which can be kept in the IMC kitchen for preparation/warm up by staff. If a camper is bringing his/her own food then a meal-by-meal menu should be included for the supervisor to follow. Food should be clearly labeled and brought in sealed storage containers and a designated spot in the fridge will be provided for storage.
Upon arrival at camp, the parents and the camper should check in at the Dining Hall to meet the kitchen staff and finalize any special meal plans.
It is the camper's responsibility to bring to camp any food substitutions not routinely provided by IMC. A few exceptions apply, such as soy milk (if requested in advance).
IMC provides an extensive salad bar containing fresh fruits and vegetables. A vegetarian option is provided for all meals but may not be classified as vegan. Campers following a vegan diet may request a menu from the office prior to camp and bring their own food to supplement the IMC meal. Food should be clearly labeled and brought in sealed storage containers and a designated spot in the fridge will be provided for storage.
